"The Weekly Dish" February 8, 2013

Well hello!

It's another beautiful day here in paradise, and we're feeling blessed on Maui as our friends on the Mainland get doused with flurries. At least you get to snowboard!  I know, I'm a spoiled climate cutie now...  ;-)

Anyhow, The Weekly Dish delivered its usual perky pleasures and useful news on 1110Am/96.7Fm within the KAOI Studio in Wailuku. (FYI: Listeners can stream live via the LIVE link on this page or you can always visit this page to catch up.)

Excuse the recording's technical difficulties this morning, as at the beginning of the show, we had some piercing mic issues. I'm going to the big punk rock show at Hard Rock tonight, so I guess it doesn't matter if I have quality hearing or not.  :-9

Besides our stellar small biz 'ohana, the Maui Weekly goods, and arts & music scene scoop, we shared benevolent stories from our special guests, including artist and community advocate Tim Garcia and Katherine Day for the Island Girl Pin-Ups' "Go Red Garden Party." Wonder women Tiare Sua and Dana Nitti of the Maui AIDS Foundation stopped in to dish the deal on the fabulous fundraiser this weekend, Mardi Gras Maui at the King Kamehameha Golf Club venue.

We also played the track "Sideways" off Sing the Body's new album, "Contrast." Check out this O'ahu band's latest effort via http://www.emusic.com/album/sing-the-body/contrast/13777372/, and buy it today. Good stuff. I can't wait til they return to Maui! Thanks to our buddy Bran Apeles for introducing us.

And don't forget about Three's Bar & Grill's big bash on Saturday in Kihei. I'm hosting the show, and we have a spectacular night planned for revelers. (See images below and visit http://www.mauiweekly.com/page/content.detail/id/510921/Three-s-Turns-3-Celebration-in-Kihei.html.) Congrats to our friends at Three's!

I don't say this enough, but much appreciation to my loyal engineer Garry, our bon-vi-vant Paul Janes-Brown and of course, Mr. Groovy Shawn Michael, for dealing with me. I love you all dearly, and couldn't do this wild ride without your patience, passion and wit.

And, thanks most of all to you, our listeners, for turning to The Weekly Dish, a delightful recipe for Maui's community and entertainment news. Keep it real.

Aloha ♥
